Grammar Survival 🔥

True or False. Answer until you drop. 3 lives only.

How it works

  • · Read the sentence. Is it grammatically correct (TRUE) or wrong (FALSE)?
  • · Build streaks for bonus points
  • · You have only 3 lives — choose wisely!

How Grammar Survival helps you learn English

Grammar Survival flips the traditional quiz format: instead of choosing from options, you see a complete sentence and decide if it's grammatically correct (TRUE) or contains an error (FALSE). This tests a deeper skill — error detection — which is what fluent speakers actually use when proofreading and listening.

When the sentence is FALSE, you see the corrected version and an explanation of the error. This makes every wrong answer a focused grammar lesson. The rapid-fire pacing creates productive pressure that trains your instincts rather than your deliberate reasoning.

The survival mechanic — three lives, lose one per error — makes every game feel meaningful. Your streak counter rewards accuracy, and the score system with streak bonuses gives you a clear goal to chase each session.

Tips for each CEFR level

Whether you're just starting or already advanced, here's how to get the most out of Grammar Survival.

A1

Read each sentence slowly before answering. At A1, errors are usually in basic verb forms (he go → he goes) or articles (a apple → an apple).

A2

Listen for 'something feels off' — at A2, you've absorbed enough English to feel errors before you can explain them. Trust that instinct.

B1

When you're unsure, ask yourself: 'Would a native speaker say this?' Wrong sentences at B1 often have correct words in the wrong grammatical role.

B2

Slow down on longer sentences. B2 errors often hide in the middle of a complex sentence — pay attention to agreement between subject and verb across a clause.

C1

At C1, errors are subtle: a missing article, the wrong modal, a slightly off preposition. These are harder to spot precisely because they're almost correct.

C2

C2 Grammar Survival tests your feel for stylistic correctness, not just grammatical rules. Some errors at this level are technically possible but unnatural.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the scoring work in Grammar Survival?

+
Each correct answer scores 10 points. When you're on a streak of 3 or more correct answers, each additional correct answer adds 5 bonus points (4th correct in a row = 15 points, 5th = 20, and so on).

What happens when I lose a life?

+
You see the full error explanation and the corrected sentence. After reading it, tap Continue to advance. If you lose all 3 lives, the game ends and you see your final score and stats.

How many sentences can I play before they repeat?

+
Grammar Survival draws from the same question bank as Grammar Quiz — nearly 1,000 questions, filtered for compatibility with the True/False format. You'll rarely see a repeat in a single session.

Can I use keyboard shortcuts in Grammar Survival?

+
Yes. Press T or the right arrow key for TRUE, F or the left arrow key for FALSE. After a wrong answer, press Enter or Space to continue. This makes the game much faster on desktop.

Why do some sentences I think are wrong turn out to be TRUE?

+
English has many structures that look unusual but are grammatically correct — inversion after negative adverbs, subjunctive mood, formal double negatives. When you're surprised by a TRUE answer, the explanation is worth reading carefully.
